TVS Apache RTR 180 Teaser Video out

Guys..
After quite a bit of waiting, the first short teaser of the Apache RTR 180 (Internal Codename-Menace, Not the actual name) is out..Its doesn't look like its been officially put out, but as long as we get to see it early, all leaked out videos are good...

TVS has quite a task up ahead with all the hype and expectation surrounding the 180..As usual, blogs are ten-a-penny these days and rumour mongers have set vague expectations..So most people thought its gonna be a mini-superbike with everything on it for under 80k rupees. Its not. Its a update, a killer one at that.

This video has been very well done. Quite nicely shot and narrated. Quite up to international standards. Shows TVS is serious about this one.
The slides ain't on only rubber sliding on the brakes, its actually the wheel spinning. Which is hard to do with a 18 PS motor. damn cool..

Lorenzo Is here to stay and he proved that at the last MotoGP Estoril Round, winning by a decent margin and stomping domination all over. You just can't believe its only the 3rd time he's racing the big-bore 800s! That includes 3 consecutive poles against such experienced riders in his first 3 races!

Dani Pedrosa was looking strong but could'nt match Lorenzo at the front, and he settled for second. Rossi too was lacking the front-runner's pace towards the end, and settled for 3rd.

Notable finishers were 4th place Colin Edwards on his new pneumatic valve engined Yamaha, A awesome finish for John Hopkins on the Wackasaki..Toseland finished a decent 7th and Stoner, who suffered from major problems all weekend, finished 6th..

3 Honda's crashed, 4 Yamaha's in the top 7, Stoner's lost his stone cold dominating form, Rossi could'nt match the times of the leaders and the championship is tied between Lorenzo and Dani!

So, in three weeks time, in China, that tie is bound to break!

Fastrack SunGlasses

You just wanna look good. You just wanna look damn good. Just without too much hassle. So usually, when you have these kind of things in mind, you dream about some hideously overpriced piece of shaped and tinted eyewear. But, with prices through the roof, and your wallet empty enough to hide a koala, you decide you want something a little bit cheaper. But you just don’t want to compromise too much. Isn’t there any damn good-value good-quality brand that doesn’t shoot down your wallet in flames?

Yes there is. And its Fastrack. Over the past, they have come out with awesome quality, stylish eyegear that eye liked very much. Sorry, I liked very much. My eyes were saved from UVWXYZ rays, they looked cool, and most importantly they had the branding.

Another thing is Raybans, Carreras as well as all the other designer shades look darn hot and could put on a show on their own, but cost a bomb. Though, going by the number of bombs merrily exploded everyday, bombs must have become cheap.

More importantly, for a person like me, who looses/breaks shades at warp speeds, this turns out to be damn expensive.

But you don’t want to pick up the hundred-buck-street-specials, because though they look cool from 10 feet away, they secretly want to make you blind, and you look like a cock when your friend’s discover that it’s el-cheapo. They will then proceed to make your life miserable. You will loose self-esteem and be sorry for the rest of your life. So no then, no 100 buck specials either.

So the shades I received from Fastrack are pretty darn good. Quality of the product, the finish, the clarity, the distortion control, the fit. Though Couple of drawbacks. The tint I received on the shades is soo bright & yellow that it makes you feel like you are on Mars the moment you step out of your parking. And as a part of the ‘Biker’s Collection’, they would be as useful as a Swiss army knife. After it’s been crushed by a tank. So no hideous tints then, for the people who actually spend more time outside, doing what they love to do, rather than hanging around at Mocha’s. When we’re in Mocha’s, any tint is fine. Though, I could’ve selected better tints if I had bought em.(I received em as a gift)

Second, I found the frame flexing a bit too much. I ain’t no design genius, but a little metal backbone acting as a skeleton for the frame, surrounded by the translucent plastic could sort out that issue, I suppose.

The cover cum cleaning cloth and case is good and saves the shades when fat ladies sit on it. The pricing is spot on and especially, with the recent discount fit that Fastrack had, they were brilliant VFM.(Value-For-Money, Lamer!). The image is awesome and quality is also spot on.

They spend huge amounts of online advertising, which is the new channel to connect with people of my age. One thing. I like that idea, but I would be really frustrated if they bugged you every 3-4 days, no offence to anyone. I mean, say what you wanna say, you’re here to make money. And I don’t buy a Fastrack every week. So that becomes slightly frustrating and something most people just hate.

What you could do is you could associate with responsible biker groups around the country, who have a clean image and aren’t the Aaj-Tak definition of it. Like ours! That would be cool. Then maybe, we’ll put Fastrack stickers all over our bikes and plug Fastracks everywhere habitually. Even if people ask us about microwaves. Now that you’ve seen my sheer marketing genius, let’s end it here. For me, Fastrack is awesome.

Homeboy Lorenzo, Yamaha, is on pole for tomorrow's race. He's just smashed the circuit lap record to pieces, almost 0.6 seconds clear of the other Spanish fav,Dani Pedrosa, on his Honda RCV, which left the pits in utter awe.

Colin Edwards on his Yamaha M1,starts from the 3rd spot, and reports say that he has just provided some of the best footage for the season, saving his M1 from crashing. We'll have more on that soon..
Down the order, Hayden, 4th, followed by Rossi,5th, having engine problems.

Toseland starts from 8th..

Today I went for something a little different from my what I usually get into. I went for Go karting !! So what right ? I know its nothing new for you, but for me it is ! This is the first serious Go Karting attempt happened in Cochin . According to Mr. Ajay Hormis, the main guy behind this madness, says " more and more karting enthusiasts are reaching this place". I did a 10 lap drive and got hooked into it instantly. This is another domain from where you can expect a load of serious fun. Well I found something new today, Go Karting is fun !

It is almost ready to roll into showrooms, the 125cc Road Bike that is.

It will be followed by a 250cc and then, hold your breath, a 500cc V-TWIN! Sound Awesome...Hope it still has the barking mad raw character that KTM does oh-so-well..

And the report states that these bikes will be built in India, ie Mostly Pune and sold through Bajaj Outlets. How freakin' awesome is that!

So cross your fingers, hands, and whatever else you can cross, because KTM is gonna be here soon!!

Guess what people, This Sunday Its MotoGP Time! Oh, those 3 weeks of waiting are always frustrating! This time, its Jerez, Spain!

It’s going to be close. 2^nd place downwards, that is! It’s going to prove extremely tough to beat Ducati. Because Ducati have brought in their furious and utterly dominating GP8 MotoGP offering, and with ice-cool and ultra-competitive Stoner in the saddle, all Yamaha and Honda guys can do is sit at lower positions on the board, trying not to cry.

Though in MotoGP nothing is sure. That’s what makes it so very nail-biting and exciting.

Honda with Pedrosa and Dovizioso, are doing a good job battling it out with the 7-Time Italiano World Champion and other front runners. Their bikes seem well sorted, though the man from BurgerLand, Nicky Hayden, isn’t quite getting it right. Already, “A one-hit wonder” tags are being hurled at him..

Yamaha, as a team , is stronger than ever this year. Four Yamaha’s in the top 7. And,that,when only four competed. Lorenzo is flying around on MotoGP tracks like his life depends on it. Though the obvious power deficit is still giving small-eyed engineers at Yamaha nightmares.

Lorenzo’s bike is up there on the fastest bikes on the grid, but Rossi’s bike is not. Though Lorenzo’s and Rossi’s bikes are using the same new pneumatic valve engine. Edwards/Toseland did just fine, barely behind Rossi, using the older less-powerful engine and on, guess what..Michelin’s. So has the man we so worship taken the wrong decision by running BridgeStones? We’ll see that on Sunday!

Casey Stoner got his 2008 title defense off to the best start possible with the Ducati Marlboro ace taking the checkers at Qatar.
The historic nighttime race, the first in 60 years of Grand Prix racing, saw the Aussie claim victory after a battle with MotoGP rookie Fiat Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo and Stoner's old 250 rival, Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa. Roland Sand Design proposes these 400cc singles, based on dirtbike engines to replace the 250cc class. The good stuff is that it hopes to bring down the cost of 250GP racing substantially, but will it deliver the same thrills & character as the two-strokes?!?!

And there's a catch...at her loudest, the 101.2 decibels Sharapova generates is the equivalent of the revving of a Harley-Davidson..Now that's something!

Somethings you just don't believe..Here's an example. Im sure that the specs will sound unbelievable. Simply too much. Its something that you just aren't used to accepting.

The Acabion GTBO.

It achieves an electronically limited 280 mph with just 50% of its engine power, accelerating from 180 mph to 280 mph in approximately 10 seconds, which is impossible even for Formula 1 cars.

Even with such a performance it consumes 5 to 10 times less fuel than a state of the art two-seater supercar. More than this, cruising at a constant speed, e.g. 120 mph, it is so efficient that it even consumes half the amount of fuel than a 2006 high-tech diesel compact-car. Tailor-made versions of the Acabion can be provided anything up to 700 hp, and a range of internal fittings. All those types are even more dynamic but not less efficient.

We will start production in April 2006. And we will deliver to the USA too.

Production time per unit is about 2 years: One man builds one Acabion. The producer is an airplane builder. The Acabion is the Gerald Genta of future road traffic.

B) The Acabion is to come with a computer cockpit, a fast ethernet computer-network with 3 terrabyte capacity plus fast WLAN and internet access (UMTS in Europe).

C) The Acabion provides an ultimately precise and brilliant Syrincs Oxygen Soundsystem 2 times Dolby 5.1 digital for driver and copilot separately, a sound system developed exclusively for Acabion. There is one huge acoustical advantage of the Acabions cockpit towards any car:

D) Engine with US dragster components. 300 modifications to serial Hayabusa.

E) All parts of body and interiour from Carbon / Kevlar and handmade, in accordance to high airplane quality standards.

F) Seats in accordance to the Acabion patent: Protection for the complete passengers’ body is like inside a helmet.

I) The Acabion can drive as a cabriolet: Pilots hood can be fixed between winglets.

J) Electric drive for backward movement, also capable of moving the Acabion foreward at 30 mph and for about 10 miles distance. (Strategy in behind: Avoiding engine coldstarts).

Price GTBO 36 starts at 540.000 Euro. A complete individual toolset (carbon forms interiour and exteriour ...) for any later parts supply is included.

Light weight also helps the Acabion along, tipping the scales at just 359kg.
